Questions
Will my tenants find the texts annoying?
Most tenants only get the heads-up before rent is due. Follow-ups go out only if rent is late, and they're polite. Each tenant opts in by replying YES before any texts go out, and can reply STOP at any time. If they don't reply YES within a day, or reply STOP, reminders go to their email instead, as long as you've added one.
What happens when a tenant pays?
If they pay online, the rent is marked paid and reminders stop automatically. If they pay another way, mark it paid in one tap. When a tenant says they paid with Venmo, PayPal or Zelle, you get a text to confirm.
Does InvoiceNag take a cut of the rent?
No. Card and bank payments go straight to your own Stripe account, where Stripe charges its standard processing fee. Bank transfers cost much less than cards, which matters for rent. InvoiceNag only charges the $10 monthly subscription.
Do I need a Stripe account?
No. You can list Venmo, PayPal or Zelle instead. Add Stripe if you want customers to pay by card or straight from their bank account.
Stripe is the payment company millions of businesses use. The account is free, with no setup or monthly fees: Stripe only takes a fee when a customer pays you. Connecting it from InvoiceNag takes about 5 minutes, and bank (ACH) payments are switched on from the start.
Bank payments cost far less than cards. Stripe's standard fee is 0.8%, capped at $5, versus 2.9% + 30¢ for a card. On a $2,000 invoice, that's $5 instead of $58.30. The money takes a few business days to clear.
Do I need a card for the free trial?
Yes. You won't be charged until your 14-day trial ends, and you can cancel anytime before then.
What if I have more than 10 tenants?
The landlord plan covers up to 10 tenants. Email [email protected] and we'll move you to a plan with no limit.
Can tenants agree to texts in the lease?
Yes. Add our short texting clause to your lease or a lease addendum, and have tenants initial it next to their mobile number. They'll still get one text asking them to reply YES, but they'll be expecting it.
